July is Disability PRIDE Month

A banner about celebrating Disability PRIDE month in July

In July, we celebrate and honor the history, achievements, experiences, and struggles of the disability community.

Disability Pride Month commemorates the enactment of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) on July 26, 1990. The ADA prohibits discrimination against persons with disabilities in all spheres of life, including those belonging to the LGBTQ+ community.

As an organization committed towards the inclusion of persons with disabilities, our work goes beyond education. We work to shine a spotlight on the challenges and systemic inequalities faced by the disability community, most especially children, and encourage communities to take more proactive steps to ensure their inclusion.

This Disability Pride Month, BE continues to educate and raise awareness about disability rights. We engage in research, policy development, advocacy, among other initiatives to strengthen the inclusion of all persons with disabilities.
